Robots aren't really people, and she's actually deactivating them, not killing (or destroying) them. None of the machines explode or fall apart; her magic doesn't cause that. And she uses magic because she's from an order of magical girls... just a paramilitary order.
I wish the game had saved! I played up until I got the Phase ability, then tried to pause the game to find which button it was (C didn't seem to do anything), whereupon it crashed. It's a pity, because I was enjoying it up to that point.
Played up until I beat the first boss, definitely a fun combo of Metal Gear and Metroid. The charge attack on the first boss is odd though as I had no idea how to avoid it. I just ended up tanking and spamming attacks, lol.
That was pretty good! I ran into some bugs for sure. The worst of which was getting "Roll", then dying, then getting "Roll" again, which meant near the end when I picked up "Phase", I didn't get the ability because the first two items on my ability list were both "Roll".
Can you release a Linux stand alone version? The web version runs terrible, I'm using the latest Firefox. It doesn't work full screen (no controls work) and when not in full screen it's all laggy and I've got an i7 with a GTX1060 6GB and 28Gigs of memory.
I finished it, it was hard, but I finished it. The visuals are great! The music is super cool. I enjoyed it. The guy who commented before me said it was an easy game, so I expected it to be a quick game, but NOOOOO. I felt pain. I had a lot of fun tho, I think half of the hard parts were me being stupid anyway. I wish the mission start animations were faster; I had to wait a lot of time for them. Also, her sitting animation is super cute! Good job!! Edit: I played the game again for a perfect run, and I just realized it is not that hard. I just overlooked a lot of useful things and actually tried not to get detected this time and game was a lot easier. My bad.
Very cool, but also super easy (except for the last boss). I just ignored the searchlights and ran through because at least then there was a speck of tension. :P Maybe there's a bonus for not getting caught or something...
A quick tip: PLEASE add a Jump Buffer, it seens small, but really would improve the controls. Besides that, it's a good game, I'm really found interesting how you combine stealth with platform challenges, however the lights can be hard to see in the waterfalls sections. Also I died before the first boss because i was trying to jump to a platform to another in the waterfalls (I really used to the Jump Buffer), but I had fun :)
The crouch command input responds after releasing the find button. This will be fixed in the updated version coming this week. Thanx for the feedback! :)
Game looks great! For some reason not all the controls are working for me... I can move, jump and attack, but the other keys don't work. I am running it on firefox with Linux Mint. I am not sure if I am doing something wrong!
Thanks for the feedback. Some moves are unlocked after collecting hidden upgrades (double jump, roll, etc.). The basic starting moves are walking, jumping, crouching, and crawling.
The idea is to be a true metroidvania, but with stealth elements. It would be possible to create some MGS-inspired top-down sequels, but that's not the current focus for future updates. Thanks for the feedback. :)
Looks amazing. Very cute and also very fun to play. Only a bit sad to play with keyboard because i have a different keyboard layout so the z button is in a completely other place. Other than that, really cool.
It may be a configuration on your machine that can't process the effect of the red layer on the screen when the alarm rings. :( After the Jam I will make a bug-fixed and more balanced version, maybe this one will perform better on your computer. :)
Very fun addition, and definitely more difficult. The slow falling did not work for me, and despite having some trouble, I was able to make it past the slow falling section and beat the game without it. (Is pressing T supposed to warp you to the credits?)
I understand the problem with the slow fall, try activating it when the character is already falling. If you activate it during the jump, it won't work (I'll make an adjustment after the jam so that it activates at least at the end of the jump before the fall to avoid problems). I'm glad you liked the game (the T key function was a test that I ended up forgetting to remove when uploading the game to the game jam, hahah).
Many people are reporting this softlocked issue, I will check it out. I understand the problem with the slow fall, try activating it when the character is already falling. If you activate it during the jump, it won't work (I'll make an adjustment after the jam so that it activates at least at the end of the jump before the fall to avoid problems). Thanx a lot for the feedback! :)
I figured out the problem(maybe?) the actual slowfall item despawns before I get the skill nope, the item just doesn't grant the skill, at least visually
Playing in chrome, the game is almost unplayable. Every time I press down or up, the character does what she's supposed to do, but the scroll bar also responds to the key press so my game window keeps moving around.
Thank you very much for your feedback! I agree with your analysis. I didn't have time to expand on the story's lore, and even the leel design wasn't well balanced.
I'm working on a new version of the game, focusing more on the forest aspect than the mechanics (since the main reference is Metal Gear. However, I'll also be including the game in the Metroidvania Jam with the "Gears" theme, so having this element present in some way will be necessary).
I plan to include some sort of health control item that drops from enemies when they're stunned; that might help. As for the sounds, unfortunately, I don't have time to explore anything beyond 8-bit-style noises at the moment.
Once again, thanks for the feedback. If you want to see another game of mine that's more finished, try HEXBLADE.

I got stuck in the walls… wish i could reset to the last checkpoint or something :/
This was good stuff
total time 8:08 detected 2 i was stuck in a bush for 5 mins till i stop pressing space and read that it was z to jump i was just messing around lol
wait she is a pacifist that kills people is it cause she is using magic
Robots aren't really people, and she's actually deactivating them, not killing (or destroying) them. None of the machines explode or fall apart; her magic doesn't cause that. And she uses magic because she's from an order of magical girls... just a paramilitary order.
great game
Thanx! :D

You go to the far right wall and jump. Only his bottom part reaches all the way to the wall.
gameplay is nice but controls take some getting used too. I'm not sure about needed certain abilities to find secret areas.
hello wanna talk about your favorite video games then come to our community https://itch.io/t/5374649/waffle-fan-club
Very cool game. The only thing I'd say that could work is the option to rebind keys.

I found a small bug, I jumped while crouching under the leaves on the first screen and I got stuck floating inside it </3
Thanks for the feedback, I've already fixed this bug for the updated version I'll release this week. :

Crouching often has a delay to it.

That was interesting...I'm not sure if I'm missing something, but the 'Slowfall' powerup just didnt work for me.
Edit: Nvm, I just saw it just doesnt work on Keyboard
Bro could you please sell me this game project if your open to it
Running this game is so fun! 2:39 achieved on 1.0, and 2.0 has interesting potential.

I do not wish to sound rude, but I kind of want to throw this out there.
Really looking into it as a Metroidvania game, apparently, I suppose trying to replicate the MSX Metal Gear games is not in the plan?
The idea is to be a true metroidvania, but with stealth elements. It would be possible to create some MGS-inspired top-down sequels, but that's not the current focus for future updates. Thanks for the feedback. :)

Thanks for the feedback. Do you have any suggestions for a second keyboard control style that would be more accessible for keyboards like yours?
everyone pls check out my new game its really sick and cool and its free
controls straight up dont work past first cutscene
im on firefox on manjaro linux on an old lenovo laptop
EDIT: on one of your previos games in the same engine past menus the screen has a massive delay
Strange, testing it here runs normally, and I haven't heard of other people complaining about it.
windows download version?
As soon as the updated version comes out after the gamejam.
I'm afraid this is not how the game is supposed to look like TwT
I'm afraid it's my laptops fault, that thing is prehistoric....
Aw man, I was so looking forward to play that, it looks so perfect on the page :<
It may be a configuration on your machine that can't process the effect of the red layer on the screen when the alarm rings. :( After the Jam I will make a bug-fixed and more balanced version, maybe this one will perform better on your computer. :)
Oh no, it actually looks like that the whole time.
When the alarm rings it actually just covers the entire screen on a plain red square, so I can see even less of the game everytime it blinks
Again tho, my laptop *is* famous for being kind of a pain everytime I try playing jam entries, so don't worry too much about it x)
But I would be looking forward for an update if you actually manage to fix it somehow!

It’s crazy how GOOD your how itch.io page is. You have so many bangers!
I'm glad you liked it, thanx! :D
I have softlocked in the first room by double jumping or rolling or something like that in crawling spot
Also the slow fall does not work for me
Many people are reporting this softlocked issue, I will check it out. I understand the problem with the slow fall, try activating it when the character is already falling. Thanx a lot for the feedback! :)
I figured out the problem(maybe?) the actual slowfall item despawns before I get the skill
nope, the item just doesn't grant the skill, at least visually
The item disappears during the description window that is created when tapping on it.
yes I figured that out, however in the skills tab the skill never appears for me
I'll check to fix it in the post jam update. ;)
Very fun game! Sub 3 run completed!
Thanx a lot! I will soon post an updated and improved version of the game.
Playing in chrome, the game is almost unplayable. Every time I press down or up, the character does what she's supposed to do, but the scroll bar also responds to the key press so my game window keeps moving around.
Play in full screen. There's a full screen button in the corner of the screen, so the problem won't persist. :)
Gameplay and Critique ;)
