fun game


was in last boss, 3-4 hits before i died

suddenly i got killed, not by the giant knife, or small knives, or the sky knives, idk why, game over didnt appear, and boss kept artacking


im gonna reset

Good game. Boss 3 and Blademaster I didn't worry about attacking because there's no time to attack several times in a row (or at least I didn't figure out how). Could you put the sum of the bosses' time at the end? It can be an incentive for speedrunners. Congratulations!

Here's a critic if you want it, I hope its not too long.

This is a great fun little game so far. The gameplay is simple and easy to learn, and the art is well made. But I do have a few nitpicks. I'm sure others have brought it up, but the controls are kind of wonky.  Id recommend something like this: 

MOVE/CROUCH/JUMP: W,A,S,D or arrow keys

ATTACK: mouse 1

 PAUSE: esc or enter

I also have a few nitpicks on the bosses and gameplay, nothing  that ruins the experience just little things. The first boss could use a little more variety in attacks instead of just the 2, or at least making one of them more interesting. I was thinking, maybe instead of just a stomp attack, he could jump to the other end of the room and his landing causes the shockwave. I have no complaints about the 3 summoned bosses. And for the last boss, the only issue I had was with the knives. I like the idea of having a pestering attack that makes it harder to deal with the other attack, but the knives are too hard to dodge to be a pestering attack, as well sometimes id be mid jump and a knife would form in front of me or on top of me with no warning, giving me no chance to dodge.  maybe there should be some sort of effect showing where a knife is going to spawn, or when the knives spawn in, they should have a fixed direction instead of locking onto you, but spawn in more often, as well as doing less damage. And my final complaint is on the sword's curse,  once again I like the idea, but the bosses usually only gave long enough openings for 1 or 2 attacks, kind of rendering that mechanic pointless, maybe the curse bar could fill up quicker or it could reset slower.

Thanks for your feedback! A lot of the game was set up in a hurry due to gamejam timing, and I haven't done an update to fix these things yet. Thank you very much for the tips, these are things I'm writing down for a future update and for a definitive version that will have phases beyond the bosses.

Seems fun, I didn't get too far because using keyboard B settings in Brave browser it keeps opening bookmark tab -_- 

might consider switching attack and jump to more neutral keys like L & K or something. Looks good besides that!

Fun game! My only complaint is that the knives in the final boss were super annoying, and kinda ruined that fight. In the full version you should prob change that attack.

Thanks for the feedback. I intend to make the knives with an animation when they are created, and during this period they will be intangible. This way they will deal damage only when they advance.

i was about to beat him but i think i got a bug and my health went from like 3-4 hits from dying to 0, and i didnt even get hit, and game over screen didnt appear, so im having to reset rn

For some reason I cannot slide. What should I do? 

Strange, if you kill the second Boss, do the slide by pressing down and jump. Try using some other command setting and see if the problem persists.

Also the controls are pretty weird. For me it is that you have to use ctrl to jump, so it puts your hand in a weird position(I think the key should be W), and that enter key is so close to attack, so when I try to attack, I accidentally pause the game (I think the pause key should be space bar).

What do you mean terrible? Talk about the inputs on the arrows, on the WASD, on the controller?

The art style is gorgeous, and the game's mechanics are simple to learn but really fun to play with! I like how the player got a new movement/attack option after every fight rather than all at once; it's definitely a lot easier to take in as a new player. Hexblade has a bunch of potential, and I think if you keep it simple you have a great game idea here.

Honestly its a awesome game. Only feedback is that maybe you could also add in the WASD control for movement

Here some tips that i think could help improve the game:

- Each enemy should be harder than the previous one, personaly the first one were harder than the second or third.

- Option to lower the music and the effects, not to turn it off.

- Don't use white text over light colors (White, yellow, pink, etc.) is hard to read.

so i downloaded it and clicked launch in the itch app, but it says it successfully updated icons for hexblade and then quits, any help on that?

Hello, I had a bug on the 4th boss, it did went to the up right corner of the screen like it was going to turn in a ball and shoot thorns, but it literally keep there like a dog and never went down, i had to kill myself to restart the fight.

Also, I think the daggers in the blademaster fight are a little unfair, it spawns in front of you and you can't do nothing.  And when blademaster tp to the other side of the stage, you are going there and throws you a mega sword at max speed it's a little WTF.  But I enjoy the game a lot, tons of fun and blademaster fight was really challenging for me, and a little frustrating

accidentally softlocked myself on the first boss by sliding into the weak spot and attacking, i was invincible and did constant damage with no effect done even with the curse bar all the way gone. softlock continued through to the next boss

a little annoying but its a new game and it's a very specific glitch

sorry, I actually meant the third boss, basically I was invulnerable despite having 0 health and 0 curse, and did constant damage when touching a weak spot; character animation was frozen in the sliding position and that continued even during the power-up animation between bosses. I was also completely immobile, so i had no way to damage the last boss and had to reload the page.

I like it a lot. Character control feels great (would like to use dpad instead of analog and reverse jump/attack buttons).

Very minor "flaw" is that final boss sometimes spawn the big sword right at your position so you cant counterplay it.

Very fun and quick game.

The incremental difficulty is very good, the music and bosses are nice to deal with, I just have some notes:

- The sound effects of the 3rd boss are a bit too loud even with loud music
- Against the final boss I was more often hit by the fact of having made contact with the boss rather than being hit by him.
- I don't know if it's just me, but I didn't use the slide mechanic, I found it particularly uncomfortable as well as using the Z jump, I found it more intuitive to use the up arrow. (In the case of this note it's more of a feeling I have, I don't consider it a flaw.)

Final result 8,5/10, I hope also in future works :)

honestly I'd say keep the z jump, but add a second jump input for up arrow, just so people can use whatever  is more intuitive

This game was awesome!, i like the design of monsters along with the music, although it was difficult i enjoyed it very much i can't wait for the full version :)

This one is SICK! I like the difficulty increase, the music is in good sync with the game, also nice story building (although it's still short because this is for boss rush jam).  Almost an hour to finish the game lul, not really good at gaming but it's really fun and challenging! Can't wait for the full version of the game :)
